Can I Fail a Drug Test?

Full spectrum medicinal hemp does contain THC which is the molecule that causes a “high” when heated and it is illegal in many states. To be legally grown, these hemp plants must contain .3% or less THC. The amount of THC is so low it is impossible to get “high” when it is consumed.

At CBD BioCare, our oil contains virtually no THC. Once the oil is first extracted, the THC is further isolated and removed. Most often our oil testing shows no detectable amounts of THC in our tinctures. But at times there are trace amounts present. This amount is so low it would be extremely rare to show up on any drug test.

It is important to note that when an employer is testing your urine, they can set the limits in terms of what constitutes a positive or negative result. Most companies follow the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) guidelines.

For THC, according to the SAMHSA, this limit is 50ng/ml. This means that if the urine tested has below this amount in it, it shows as a negative test result. Anything at that level or above, of course, shows as a positive test result and requires more testing to confirm its findings.

So, what all this means is that the possibility of someone failing a drug test because of the THC in CBD Hemp Oil is there, but it is extremely unlikely. But, just to keep everyone safe and clear, it is always our recommendation, if you have any concerns on the subject, to talk with whomever may be testing you prior to using any of the products, to ensure you don't have any issues. We have heard of numerous employer Human Resources departments allowing employees to use CBD Hemp products once they have had the chance to research them.
